Examines the relationships between cultural values, social contexts, and learners’ experiences. Explores the role of prejudice, stereotypes, institutional racism and sexism, and cultural incompatibilities in learning environments.




EDU 396 Exploring Ideas and Planning for an Internship

In this course, students will explore possible internship opportunities that align with their career interests and work to secure a placement for an upcoming two-semester internship.




BLE 536 Education for Social Transformation

This course introduces theories and practices that enhance education for social transformation. Students are invited to develop and consider how various issues connect with their beliefs and understandings about teaching and learning.




BLE 511 Introduction to Language Minority Education

This course provides a historical, philosophical, theoretical, and pedagogical foundation of language minority education in the United States.




TEL 410 Leadership and Advocacy in Educational Endeavors

Educators who take a stance through advocacy and leadership are well-equipped to create change. Students learn about styles of leadership and create a plan, with goals, to address an identified community problem, challenge, or area of improvement.
